Margaret was the wife of Jeremiah Chamberlain (1740-1829) of Grainger Co., TN. She was the daughter of Daniel Carmichael and Mary Eaton of Cumberland Co., PA. Daniel died in the Revolutionary War, reportedly in Dec. 1777. Her mother, Mary Eaton--not "Duncan" as many trees erroneously claim--then married a man named James Thompson and moved with her children and new husband to Grainger Co., TN. Originally buried in the Chamberlain family cemetery in May Spring, TN, Margaret's body was among those removed to Martha Sunderland Cemetery, Hamblen Co., in the early 1940s to make way for Cherokee Lake. Although her headstone gives 1770 as the year of her birth, family Bible records list the 1765 date as her correct DOB.
