Youngest daughter of Ninian Chamberlain (1792-1877) and Margaret Watkins (1790-1863), of Corryton, Knox Co., TN. Although her parents supported the Confederacy during the Civil War, Margaret fell in love with Frank Armstrong Little, a Union officer, whom she secretly used to meet in the barn of the Chamberlain family home place. Margaret and Frank were married at the end of the war and went on to have five children: Ninian Adam (Adam); Thomas P.; Ara Worthington (Worthy); Francis Robert; and Daniel L.
