Frank A. Little was the son of Adam G. Little (1784-1850) and Lucy Bailey (1796-1836), of Knox Co., TN. During the Civil War, he served in the Union army and rose to the rank of 2nd lieutenant. According to Little family lore, during their courtship he and Margaret A. Chamberlain used to meet secretly in the barn of the Chamberlain home place near House Mtn., Corryton, Knox Co., since Margaret's parents were Confederate sympathizers and several of her brothers were CSA soldiers. Frank and Margaret were united in marriage at the end of the war, and established residence at the home place.
