Bio of Ephraim Baker

Ephraim J Baker was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on  April 12, 1827. In 1850 he was living in East Lampeter, Lancaster, Pennsylvania as a laborer.

He married Almira Lefever in 1851, they had 2 children, Ephraim was a widower in 1861. His wife Almira died March 28, 1861.

He served in the Union for the state of Ohio during the Civil War from 1861-1865 after he returned home he married Susan Levers-Weiler on March 15, 1866. They had 5 children and moved to Michigan in 1885.

Civil War Service

He enlisted in the 19th Ohio Infantry as a Private on 24 Apr 1861 and was discharged 27 Aug 1861 with company. He then enlisted in Company I of the 86th Ohio Infantry as a Corporal on 1 Jun 1862 and was discharged 25 Sep 1862 with company. He then reenlisted in Company K 118 Ohio Infantry as a Private on 16 Oct 1862 mustered out 17 Jul 1865 at Salisbury, N.C. with Co F 183 Ohio to which he transferred in June 1865. was present, except as follows: 30 Apr 1864 "Det as sharp shooter 14 Mar 1864" and 30 Jun 1864 the same and 30 Jun 1865 absent "cause unknown".
