Bio of Luther Hamilton Weiler

Luther was born and raised in Stark Co., Ohio November 6, 1846 to William Weiler and Anna Elizabeth Filson. As of June 5, 1860 he was still living with his family in Lawrence Township, Stark Co., Ohio.

Two of his brothers served the Union Army; Joseph, U.S. Army for the state of Ohio, was 25 when he died at the battle of Murfreesboro, TN on January 1, 1863 and John was in the service for 4 years and climbed the ranks from Sergeant to Full Major for the state of Indiana.

At the age of 18 Luther enlisted as a Private on 11 August 1862 in Company I, 102nd Infantry Regiment Ohio on 06 September 1862. He was promoted to Full Corporal on 01 July 1863 and was killed in battle on 24 September 1864 in Athens, AL

He lost his life fighing for what he believed in, just shy of his 21st birthday.
