Company D, 39 Mississippi Infantry. (from Dunbar Rowland's "Military History of Mississippi, 1803-1898", company listing courtesy of H. Grady Howell's "For Dixie Land, I'll Take My Stand") Company D-- Newton Hornets (raised in Newton County, MS). He enlisted in the Confederate Army on April 26, 1862 at Decatur, Mississippi by J.C. McElroy for a Period of 3 years. Sgt D. M. Adams, Company D, 39th Miss Appears on a REPORT of officers and men, of Sears' Brigade, who reached the main line of the enemy's works, at Franklin, Tenn., Nov. 30, 1864. Report dated Nashville, Tenn., Dec 14, 1864. Remarks: Killed Casualties, Tenn., 55 Cooper Copyist.

Mary Mildred Rowzee married David M. Adams in 1860. They were married in Union, MS. They had one child. They are living together in Newton County, MS in the 1860 Census. It is thought that Mary Mildred Adams may have died sometime before 1870. David Milton Adams is buried at McGavock Confederate Cemetery in Franklin, TN. They have placed a beautiful monument for the 39th Mississippi Infantry.
