D Alexander -DOB circa 1839.Listed on 1860 federal census,Desha county,Wilkinson twnshp. Joined 1st Ark mounted rifles Co G. Napoleon rifles on June 15 of 1861.Elected 2nd Lt June 16.Shortly thereafter had confrontation with enlisted man Willian Finnerty ,stabbing and killing him.Under arrest from June until cashered out shortly after.After court-martial in 1861 possibly moved on to 8th Va infantry Co I.AWOL Sept 16 1862 near MartinsburgVa.Possibly joined Mosbys boys 6-10-63 at Rectors X roads Faquier Co Va.Captured 11-21-63 near Middleburg.Sent 11-24-63 to Old Catitol prison and transfered to Pt Lookout Md on 2-3-64.Exchanged on 2-24-64 Aikens Landing.Pardoned 4-22-65 Conrads Ferry Md.Went home to Arkansas,married Josephine Gibbs year uncertain.Three children listed on 1890 federal census,Eugenie,daughter/David,son and Edward,son.Could not find death record,perhaps buried in Drew county.
