Tildon Berry's parents were Thomas Virgil Berry and (maiden name) Tennessee Lucinda Sparks. Both were born in Tennessee (Union County). 1910 census indicates that Tom and Tennessee Berry were living in Gray Knox County, KY. Gray was a rural farming community. Tom was 34 and Tennie was 26. The following children were living in the household at the time of the 1910 census: Maggie (8) Fred D. (6) Necie V. (4) Tildon (1.5) Tildon's wife was Eva who died in Indiana in 1976. Tom, born in Union County, TN, March 16, 1876. His parents were William Henderson Berry and Mary Ann Allen, who died when Tom was about 10. He was the only child of this marriage. William Henderson's parents were John Berry and Susan Adeline Moser. Mary Ann's parents were Joseph P. Allen and Fannie Bradley. Joseph was from NC, where he and Fannie were married, and Fannie was born in SC and then moved to NC. They moved with their family from NC to Claiborne/Union County TN. Tennessee's parents were John Sparks and Margaret Ridings. John was the son of Calvin Sparks and his first wife, Jamima/Gemima Unk. Based on family names analysis, John's mother's maiden name was probably Goins, and her parents were probably Levi Goins and Elizabeth Stallion. Tildon and Eva lived in the Knox/Bell/Harlan County region of Southeastern Kentucky before moving to Indiana. Tildon worked as a farmer and a miner in Kentucky, and in farming when he moved to Indiana--possibly in other areas over time. His mother died in Harlan Count abt. 1922. His father died in Pineville, Bell County, Ky in 1976 (though he was a resident of Knox County at the time.) After Tennie's death, Tom married a second wife, Lennie Brown who was born in TN. She died after Tom. Tennie and Tom are buried in the Dozier Cemetery, located on the middle fork road of Little Richland Creek, near Tom's 40 acre farm. Buried in the same cemetery are Tennie's parents, John and Margaret Sparks. Provided by: ralphmills@aol.com, nephew of Tildon; son of his sister, Necie.
