History of Army Service of Harry W. Mayer

| Fort Sheridan, Ill.

Army sent him for 6 weeks of training in airplane & engine repair. He spent his entire time in Army at Fort Sill, Ok. as an airplane & engine mechanic. He was also expert with a carbine. He attained the rank of Sgt. and spent 2 yrs 4 mons in Army. He received the Good Conduct metal and the American Defense Service Metal. Entered the service and was discharged through Fort Sheridan.

My grandmother spoke english, but she didn't learn to read or write it until my dad went into service. She then learned so she could keep in contact with him.
