Fold3 is a resource of information on our ancestors and heros who have shaped this great country and fought the battles and wars to keep us free. There are, however, many other heros that never get any recognition. They are the first responders, police, firefighters, military personnel, teachers, and other everyday heros that fight their or their loved ones everyday personal battles with loneiness, depression, illness, disease, pain, hunger, poverty and never complain.

Megan and Craig were expecting the birth of their little daughter, picking out names, colors, nursery themes and clothes for her to wear when she came home from the hospital. However, their baby would not be coming home. At twenty weeks into conception the doctors discovered that she had a severe and fatal birth defect known as anencephaly Babies with this certain condition rarely live thru birth and if they do will live for only a few minutes. Instead of picking out names, colors, and nursery themes they had to pick out a grave site, funeral home, tombstone and clothes not to bring her home in, but to bury her in.

Modern technology now allows us to look into the womb and see if the unborn is a boy or girl, if it has ten fingers and toes, if everything is normal or if the baby has a birth defect. This technology and the law allows us to terminate this baby if there is anything we do not like. It also gives us a hugh responsibility, and that is to respect life regardless of how long that may be. The length of time we get to spend on earth is not guaranteed to anyone.

Her parents could have called this an inconvience or distraction to their comfortable, neatly planned lives. Instead, they called her Livie, their precious little girl and they wanted to give her all the time possible in the comfort and warmth of her mother's womb. They wanted to spend time with Livie regardless if it was going to be only for a few minutes or a lifetime.

Livie is scheduled to be born (induced) August 3, 2012 at St. David's Hospital in Austin Texas.
