Martha A. "Marcie" Hillen, 73, of Connellsville, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012, at her home, attended by her husband, son and daughter-in-law. She was born Feb. 10, 1939, in Ford City, a daughter of the late William and Pearl Schiffgens. Marcie was a resident of Connellsville since 1959, when she married James E. (Jim) Hillen, her devoted husband for 52 years. After meeting her husband during nurses' training and raising four children, she worked as an aide with the Connellsville Area School District, a proofreader with the Daily Courier and as a store manager with Graft Oil Company. She was also a beloved Sunday school teacher for 34 years at Calvary Assembly of God. She believed strongly in supporting international missions and volunteered as a financial counselor to help young couples. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her loving family: her husband, Jim Hillen; their children, Patricia Hillen Hall, of Charlotte, N.C., Janice Hillen McLean and her husband, Mark, of New Orleans, La., Jamie Hillen and his wife, Karla, of Richmond Hill, Ga., and Tim Hillen and his wife, Yoshiko, of Scottdale; grandchildren are David Hall and wife, Melissa, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Christopher Hall and wife, Nadia, of New Orleans, La., Julia Hillen Cousineau and husband Christopher, of Richmond Hill, Ga., Andrew Hillen and wife, Johanna, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Lindsay, Victoria and Landon McLean, of New Orleans, La.; and great-grandchildren are Shannon Wren Hall, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Seeley Peregrine Hillen, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Connor Emerson Cousineau, of Richmond Hill, Ga. Two more great-grandchildren are expected in 2012. In addition to her parents, Marcie was predeceased by a sister, Janet Simpson.
