PFC Earl Fickies killed one day after his 23rd birthday

PFC Earl Fickies, a member of the US  331st Infantry Division, was killed in action against Japanese forces on the island of Okinawa on June 12, 1945,  His remains were never recovered. He was posthumestly awarded the Bronze Star & Purple Heart.

 

His name is enscribed within the Honolulu Memorial, along with 18,096 American World War II missing from the Pacific Theater
