James Rooke

James, my father, was born James Edward Chafin. His mother's second husband adopted Dad and his name was changed to James Edward Rooke. Dad was a young teenager in Ohio,when he was sent off to work in the CCC camps in Oregan.He was later drafted into the army. He soon found himself in an elite group called the Merrill's Marauders. At the time of his death James was retired (for health reasons) to Florida. He died in his sleep when visiting his daughter in Warren, Michigan. He died on August 6, 1975 at the young age of 52. Jim was married to Loretta Mae Hess for 29 years. They had 3 children - Edward James, Juanita Mae & Dennis Carl.
