A Note Identifiying Donald McKinney Wallace

9981 West Union Road, Medway, Ohio 45341

Donald McKinney Wallace was born on, and retired to, the farm settled by his great grandfather Reuben Wallace in Clark County, Ohio about 1801.  Reuben was born in Kent County, Delaware, and moved with his family to Williamsville in Bath County, Virginia about 1786.  Donald McKinney Wallace's Wallace lineage extends by paper trail to a Matthew Wallis/Wallace who lived in Somerset County, MD in the late 1600s and whose wife is accepted as Elizabeth Alexander.  By paper trail, autosomal DNA, Y-DNA and SNP testing this Wallace lineage can be traced to the Glasgow, Scotland area and to a Wallace male parent who could not have been born later than about 1600 and was possibly born generations earlier.  The 117 acre remnant of the 320 acre farm settled by Reuben is now owned by Donald Kiblinger Wallace, Donald McKinney Wallace's second son and his wife, Ellen Robertson Wallace.  Family papers dating to the late 1700s are archived at the Dunbar Library of the Wright State University near Dayton, Ohio as file MS 92, The Wallace Family Papers.  A history of the family presented to Bess Wallace Truman at the White House in December 1946 is archived in the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Library in Washington, DC as NSDAR Document 36135.  This history is based on a family history compiled by Mary Turpin Layton for the Wallace family in the mid 1930s.  Copies of both family histories are archived at the Wright State University: http://www.libraries.wright.edu/special/collection_guides/guide_files/ms92.pdf
