HENRY WHALEY
Henry Whaley, 70, died Thurs. eve. in his home at 1000 W. Market St. after an illness of several months. Mr. Whaley, a veteran of WW1, retired in 1958 after having been employed as a forman for 30 years at the Hinde and Dauch Paper Co. Prior to that he had been employed at the former Catawba Candy Co. for several years. Surviving are his widow, the former Mabel Chamberlain; a daughter, Mrs. George Fabick, Cuyahoga Falls, four sons, Henry G. Jr., Richard D. Frederick C. And Gene A., all of Sandusky; 8 grandchildren and a sister Nettie Higgins, Ft. Wayne Ind. He was preceded death by four sisters. Friends may call after 7:30 Sat. at the Charles J. Andres' sons Funeral Home where funeral services are to be held at 10:30 Mon., the Rev. A. B. Tassell officiating. Burial is to be in Oakland Cemetery.

Henry Whaley was in the National Army in Sandusky, Ohio. He enlisted 04 Oct 1917 and was 25 4/12 years old. Assigned 158 Depot Brigade to 18 Nov 1917; Co I 347 Infantry to discharge Private. Honorable discharge 12 Dec 1917 due to physical disability. Found inVol #18 of Ohio Military Men, 1917-18.

Henry and Mabel were married April 1923 in Sandusky, Erie Co., OH.

His father was John Whaley (1844 Eng - 1917 OH). He died and was buried at Dayton National Cemetery, Ohio. His mother was Susannah Ann Alspaugh (1859-1935).
