The 'invalid' grandfather

I found the pension record of George B. Hauser, my grandfather, and noticed that he was listed as 'invalid".  None of his living grandchildren knew that he had any disabilities from being the the army.  This set off a quest to find his service record.  I had requestedit twice but was told it was probably destroyed in the fire in St. Louis in the 1970's.  This time I tried to reqest his pension record, but in error, I requested his service recrord again.  I was amazed and surprised that I received his service record a few days later.

George B Hauser 1903 Enlistment

| Terre Haute, Vigo Co., Indiana

George's  first enlistment was at Terre Haute, Indiana and then appears at Vancover Barracks, Washington.  There are some descriptive notes on some of the papers thay may refere to scars (that would be the S) and to pox scars (PS).  There is a note that he had small pox 2 years before and had scaring.

George B. Hauser second enlistment

| Vancover Barracks, Washington, USA

It appears his first enlistment ended and the re-enlisted at Vancouver Barracks, Washington..

The Discharge.

Grandpa Georged died at Eastern State Hospital in Nashville, TN in 1960.  Years later I was able to get copies of the records from his personal effects.  One piece of paper was his Army Discharge.   It mentions Vancouver Barracks, but another document says he was actually discharge at Angel Island, Marin Co., California.

Misc. Documents

There are note with his service record.  It does mention that he had replacement discharge sent.  There are other notes also.
