Katherine Jackson

Norwalk - Katherine Jackson, 86, died last night at Starkey's Nursing Home here after an extended illness.

Born in Vermilion, she was the granddaughter of one of the pioneer families of that city. Her mother was Anna Kieffer, and the old log cabin where Mrs. Jackson was born is still standing on the lake shore in Vermilion.

She had spent most of her life in Vermilion, Berlin Heights and Norwalk.

Survivors includde two sons, Chester H. and Melvin R., both of Vermilion; two daughters Mrs. Clara Carroll of Norwalk, and Mrs. Chester (May) Reedy, of Elyria; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Her husband, Percy, died in 1959.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Kubach-Smith Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. Ronald LaRue, pastor of Meadowlawn Church of Christ of Sandusky, officiating. Burial will be in the Parkhurst Cemetery in Clyde.
