My Pa

| Macon Georgia

Some of my best childhood memories were spending my summers at my grandparents farm. My Pa was a great man in my eyes, he loved us kids and took the time to make each one of us feel special. For most of my life they lived on Hartley Bridge Road in South Macon. In the 1960's he had an upholstery shop downtown Macon, on the corner of Martin Luther King St and Bay street which went under a bridge there by the shop. Back then it was a very busy road and I remember watching the cars disappear in the tunnel and wonder where they were going. There was a service station across the street where we would go to but RC colas and moon pies. There was a fish market across the street as well where we would go to buy fresh fish.. Macon has changed so much since then. When I was a child I played at Pa's feet while he stood talking to Otis Redding, who as far as I know his widow still lives here in Macon.
