Funeral Services for Mr. Bennie Rawlings, Sr., 65, of 1944 Childress Dr., SW Atlanta, who passed away Wedenesday, October 5, 2005 at his residence after an extended illness, will be held Friday, October 14, 2005 at 1:00 PM at Mount Mariah Baptist Church, 200 Joseph E. Lowery Blvd., Rev. Orlando K. Winters, officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. His remains will lie in state from 12 Noon until the hour of service. Mr. Rawlings was born August 25, 1940 in Sandersville, GA, he worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring after 37 years of service. He participated in Baseball in his spare time. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sylvia Rawlings; two sons, Bennie Rawlings, Jr. (Shimishia) and Kevin Rawlings; grandchildren, Kenneth and Keyun Rawlings; three brothers, three brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law, one stepsister and other relatives and friends. Two sons: Bennie Rawlings, Jr., 36 (born about 1973) and Kevin Demond Rawlings, 32 (born about 1977); grandchildren: Kenneth Demond, 12 (born 1997) and Keyun Denard Rawlings, 9 (born 2000); two brothers: Ronnie Rawlings and Curtis Rawlings. (Sylvia Rawlings, May 17, 2009).

Bennie and Sylvia traveled alot to family gatherings. Bennie was also a photograher. His step-dad taught him how to take pictures. (Sylvia Rawlings, Aug. 8, 2009).
