I am looking to find out information regarding my Great grandfather - Frances B. McCauley. He was married to Nellie Weaver, a Chippewa indian born in Mahnomen, Minnesota in 1857. Here mother was Eliza Kahgoonce and father was Simeon Sim Weaver. She and McCauley produced six children - she was widowed around the late 1800s.

Frances McCauley

| Minnesota

I believe that Frances McCauley was Irish and came to this country sometime in the mid-1800s. Married a Chippewa Indian named Nellie Weaver from the White Earth Indian tribe in Minnesota. I do not have any photos or additional information.

I have a letter from my grandfather that indicated that he changed his name from Frances McIntosh to Frances McCauley - the letter also said he changed his name because he left home to fight for the South. I have posted his picture, headstone and the page from Draft Registration

Your grandfather and grandmother are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd, MN. In one record, your grandfather is identified as a Confederate Civil War veteran. In census records, he is identified as being born in Illinois. Do you have any info about him being a Confederate? I do civil war research and would like to know anything about his war service.
