SGT Lonnie I. Sewell, US Army Air Corp, was aboard a B-24 Aircraft (Aircraft serial number 41-3970) that was shot down by Japanese anti-aircraft fire over Kiska Harbor, in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska on April 15, 1943. According to the official personnel records of Lonnie I. Sewell, for purposes of memorialization, the area of death is Alaska, Code 11. The plane was shot down over Kiska Harbor, North American Area. The B-24 was shot down by enemy anti-aircraft fire over Kiska, Alaska. The plane fell in flames into the water about 300 yards east of North Head. None of the crew got out. The crash site was strafed by Japanese guns in the water. There was a crew of eleven (11) on broad with no other passengers.
