Sergeant Chester Ovnand is listed as the second casualty on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. Sergeant Ovnand died on July 8, 1959, when Vietnamese terrorists attacked a military base in Bien Hoa. Ovnand and five other men were watching a movie when, at intermission, assassins attacked and killed Sergeant Chester Ovnand and Major Dale R. Buis. [Taken from the introduction to Major Dale R.
