Edward White worked as a clerk before he enlisted in the regular U.S. Army on 19 April 1917 at Hopkinsville, Kentucky.  His basic training was at Fort Thomas, Kentucky. H then went to Fort Sam Houston in Texas.  Assigned to the Quartermaster Corps, he sailed overseas on July 22, 1917.  He was returned to the U.S. because of illness on January 22, 1919.  He died on June 5, 1919 of tuberculosis at the U.S. Hospital # 21 in Denver.  He is buried in Boonville, Warrick County, Indiana in Maple Grove, Cemetery.
