Gregers Lauridsen Bøttiger was born i Ålborg january 6. in 1673 as son of a cooper: Laurids Petersen and his wife Maren Gregersdatter (In danish a cooper is called Bødker - of this his last name). Being named after his mothers father tells me, that he probably was the second son in the family. Gregers Lauridsen Bøttiger attended the cathederal school in Kalundborg, where he became "Student". Later he studied theology at the University in Copenhagen and obtained his degree as candidate in 1696. He died here in the vicarage of Kegnæs Church september 4. 1755. He had at least 1 son and 2 daughters. One of the daughters Anna Charlotte married the mayor of Sønderborg (Bürgermeister) Alexander Zoffmann. The son married a daughter of the local schoolmaster in Sønderby (Kegnæs) and they lived in the vicarage until 1737. I have no information about his name and neither about whereto they later mooved. The Church on Kegnæs was built in 1615 on the comand of the Duke (Hertug) Hans den

Dear Larry Parkinson

Unfortunately it is not much, that I can inform you about pastor Gregers Lauridsen Bøttiger (1707-1755). The parsonage burnt down completely on the 15. december 1773 and the parish register and archive was destroyed.

But from other sources I have collected the following facts:

The Church on Kegnæs was built in 1615 on the comand of the Duke (Hertug) Hans den Yngre. Pastor Gregers L.Bøttiger was the fifth pastor in the parish - I am the 22.

He was pastor here for 48 years - a record that will probably never be surpassed.

In 1723 the parsonage suffered it's first destructive fire and a  part of the archive was destroyed. On his own expence Bøttiger rebuild the parsonage and established a fish pond that still exist.

Sincerely

Hans Havelund, Lysabild-Kegnæs pastorat

    Dear Hans

I am a direct descendant of Gregor Bøttischer who I am informed was a pastor in Kekenes/Kegnæs 1707-1755. I would appreciate it very much if you could send me any information about him or his family, especially who his parents, wife or children were.  Thank you so much for your help.

    Sincerely,

    Larry Parkinson
