Last Patrol

A Shau Valley, South Vietnam

Part of a nine member team on a long range reconnaissance patrol on the southern tip of the A Shau Valley.  The patrol was spotted by locals and came under heavy enemy fire on the second day.  He was killed in action when the extraction helicopter was struck by enemy ground fire.  A recovery effort was not possible due to the enemy presence.  In the 1990's the wreckage site was found and excavated, bring him home after 30 years.
