John Stovall

John Stovall, Revolutionary soldier, served in the company of Capt. Adam Clement in the Virginia Militia.
Late in 1777, John sold 200 acres deeded to him by his father (John Stovall Sr ) on Dec 25, 1776, to his brother Bartholomew III. The land was located on Solomon's Run, next to James Pleasant, George Gaddy and Ed Taney's land. A month later Bartholomew III sold 100 acres that he just bought from John to Ed Taney.
John's will dated April 6, 1778, Bedford Co. VA, probated and signed by examiners, Henry Jeter and Bartholomew Stovall, Aug. 1778 is shown in Bedford Co. VA Wills pp. 513-516. The will names his wife, Elizabeth, sons, Bartholomew, John, Barns, and Ezekiah; daughters, Mary Robinson, Elizabeth, Delilah, and Ann Stovall.
Elizabeth Stovall comes into court and contests the will and de c'd "On consideration whereof she is allowed 1/3 part of the said decedents estate after the debts are paid.
