Member Suggestion: Full Name: Melrose, H

19 Jan 2012

I believe that this person was actually Hugh H. Melrose who was born at Felton in Northumberland, England on 6 Oct 1837 and emigrated to the USA in May of 1857. Hugh and wife, Sarah Watson Melrose and child, James Watson Melrose, were living in Pueblo, Colorado in 1870 along with her mother, Martha Harris Watson. Hugh was divorced by 1878 and living in Rosita, Colorado with a younger son, Joseph Matthew Melrose, who was born in 1874 at Wetmore, CO. Sarah married Hamilton Ross Bowling in 1878 and they later lived in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Joseph was the father of Hugh H. Melrose who died during the D day invasion of Normandy on 12 June 1944. Hugh was in the 357th Infantry Regiment, Company G, 90th Infantry Division, US Army. The 90th Div landed on the D day beaches on 8 June 1944. (D +2)
