The Early Dead at Mifflinburg
Mifflinburg is a beautiful and thriving town in the heart of Buffalo Valley in Union County, Pa. and was founded over a century ago by Elias Youngman and for that reason, was called Youngmanstown.  Immediately south of the town is the cemetery, the outgrowth of the churchyard connected with the Union church, built about 1806, and still standing, but used as a warehouse.  In the old part of the cemetery, in front of the old church, are buried many of the German settlers of the valley, but most of their graves are unmarked.  In the following list will be found a few whose names prominently occur in the early history of this region.  Perhaps half of the inscriptions herewith given are in the Germany language.  The tombstone of the proprietor and his wife (Elias Youngman & Catharine Nagel) are inscribed in Germany and fairly legible.
