S/Sgt Calvin Glenn Turkington (Tail Gunner) - He flew on all of the "Stoulil aircrew" regular 303rd Bomb Group missions - 92 thru 122.

Enlisted in the Army Air Corps and completed aerial gunnery training. In August 1943, he was assigned to a B-17 aircrew at Ephrata Army Air Field, Washington and completed combat crew training at Geiger Field near Spokane, Washington. Transferred to Grand Island Army Air Field, Nebraska and was assigned to a brand new B-17 to ferry to England. Staged through Harmon Field near Stephenville, Newfoundland and deployed from Gander Airport via Nutts Corner in Northern Ireland to RAF Bovington for further training. Assigned to 8th Air Force, 41st Combat Wing, 303rd Bombardment “Hell’s Angels” Group (H), 359th Bomb Squadron stationed at RAF Molesworth, England.

He flew his first combat mission on 24 December 1943 as part of Operation "Crossbow" attacking German V-1 rocket targets at Vacqueriete, France. During a bombing mission to Kiel, Germany on 4 January 1944, he was credited with destroying a German Luftwaffe twin-engine Junkers (JU-88) aircraft. During his 18th mission on 24 April 1944, he was wounded by gunfire from German Me-109 and FW-190 fighter aircraft and was hospitalized for a time in England.

On 28 September 1944, he flew as an aerial gunner in the tail turret position aboard Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress, serial #42-97187, nicknamed “Miss Umbriago” (Tail Code: BN), on a mission to bombard the Krupp Works at Magdeburg, Germany. He was mortally wounded by gunfire from an FW-190 aircraft attack and died as he crawled to the waist gunner positions for help. The B-17 subsequently went into a dive and crashed near Wittmar, Germany. His body was found in the crashed B-17, and he was later re-interred in the Netherlands American Cemetery at Margraten.
