Rutherford County, North Carolina Will Book B 1791-1813 Pages 195 & 196
Records of July Court 1807
In the name of God amen I Claudius Long of the County of Washington in the State of Tennessee being sick and in a low condition of body, but of a sound mind and memory and calling to mind the mortality of the body and that is appointed for all men once to die I hereby give up my soul to God who give it to me nothing doubting but that I shall receive my soul and body, Reunited again at the general resurrection my body I recommend to the earth from wherein it came with full appearance of the receiving the same as above stated to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors and as touching such worldly goods as God in his providence hath been pleased to bless me with,
I bequeath and bestow in the following manner,
First of all I allow all my lawful debts + funeral charges to be paid out of my Personal Estate
Item first I give and bequeath unto my beloved sister Elizabeth Long wife to John Long one hundred + fifty dollars
Item 2d. I give and bequeath unto my beloved Patrick Long my Eldest Brother one hundred and forty dollars
Item 3d. I give and bequeath unto my beloved Brother James Long the sum of one hundred and forty dollars
Item 4t. I give and bequeath unto my beloved Sister Margret Templing wife to Jacob Templing the sum of one hundred + fifty dollars
Item 5t. I give and bequeath unto my Sister Jinny Long the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars
Item 6t. I give and bequeath unto my Sister Mary Long the sum of one hundred + sixty dollars
Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved Brother in law John Long my Saddle + Bridle together with such other articles that may be at his house at my death
Item 8t. I do appoint by [?] my last will + Testament John Long my Brother in law and my Brother Patrick Long my Executor to Execute this my will I allow them to sell all my Estate both real and personal to be sold on a credit of 12 months the Executors to be taking bond and security with good + sufficient security for the money arising from the sale of this property sold as by this my last will and Testament
Item 9t. I do hereby disavow revoke and disallow all former wills legacies bequeaths heretofore made or done by me by any former will or Testament by me made or done at any time establishing this and this alone to be my last will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 20th day of May 1807.
