This prayer is a way for families, friends and fellow veterans to remember our fallen brothers and sisters. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die.

We only met briefly, as I remember. We spent 5 days in the jungle. It was your first mission with your dog and I was about to go home. You trained well and did a good job on walking point. As I remember, you had a lot of questions and I had so few answers, but I tried to help you the best I could, to be prepared for what you would face. Sorry, I couldn't help more. It was almost 30 years later, that I found out that you were KIA. I don't know why, but I have felt guilty, ever since. Goodbye buddy, Ernie Carmicle
