Peter James Saunders
Son of John H. Saunders and Pamilia Pettus of Lunenburg County, Va. Moved with family to Lafayette County, MS prior to 1840. Served in the 11th Mississippi Infantry Company A during the Civil War - spent time on Pioneer duty. Captured at Ford's Depot - April 1865. Sent to Point Lookout Maryland Prison Camp and released in June 1865. Returned to Lynchburg Va. and married Jane Ann Pettus in 1866. Occupation - Carpenter Father of 7
