Just about Jack

SNIFF, Jack Bertrand On the 1930 census Jack was living with his parents Leo and Martha Sniff in Valley, Stark Co, Illinois and the census indicates he was born in Illinois.
According to Dixon B Smith's genealogy page "Jack Sniff was a corporal, U.S. Marine Corps, in a forward gun turret of the USS Arizona, when it was sunk at Pearl Harbor"
In an article written by Eric Nolan, Travel Editor for the Daily News, he said "My dad used to play baseball in Princeville, Ill., with one of these guys. Jack Sniff. Said to be a pretty good pitcher as a teen-ager before duty called. And there he is, listed among the U.S. Marines who were assigned to the Arizona: J.B. Sniff, CPL. "
