"Sandy" Thompson, Lt. Pilot, B-25's MTO

A Daughter's Journey.....

2011;

Hi, My dad's name was Alexander Mackensie Thompson, people usually called him Sandy.     I just wanted to thank you for all your work and to tell you that I found my dad highlighted in your material.  He died December 23, 2010, and in his things I found an air medal for an April 22, 1945 attack on a ferry terminal in San Nicolo, Italy. He was a pilot and flew a B25, but never really wanted to tell us about it.

   It was really comforting for me to find his name there, and to read a little bit about that day and what was going on. If you would want a copy of the air medal or a few of the photos he took (some in Italy, I'm almost positive, and a few of B25s in the air) I would try to get them to you. Perhaps you already have quite a bit of these kinds of things.

   In any case, I sure appreciate what you have done. I don't really know much about all of this, but it meant a lot to me to go searching and actually find him.

Sincerely yours,  Gretchen Thompson= (Daughter)
