One day when Mom and I were " Chewing the Fat " as she would refer to as a general conversation.

She related to me about her position as a production line quality inspector of military aircraft engine parts. The parts had to meet specifications or be rejected for use in production.

Well I guess a supply of engine bearings came in and she inspected them before production use and found them not meeting specifications as required. So she red tagged the whole shipment as rejected for use

When upper management heard of this they got panicky and had to check for themselves. Because this would mean shutting the production line down and notifying the parts supplier and the U S Government.

Management finally agreed with her decision and shut the line down until correct parts arrived.

You have to understand, Shirley was a 20 year old young lady at the time. She said she knew what her decision would mean by rejecting the parts.

But the" Boys were counting on us to do our job " So they could successfully do there's. And I was NOT going to let them down for any reason. And Mom still had those feeling during the Vietnam War!

Here support for the U S Forces was undeniable during her lifetime.
