Place of residence

| Texarkana, Miller county, Arkansas

George was born in Texarkana.  Attended school at North Heights.  His father died in 1919 in the influenza epidemic.

George graduated from school in 1927 and in October 1929, he persuaded his mother to sign for him to enlist in the Navy.  He went to Little Rock, AR for his physical and was sworn in.

The slogan at that time was, "Join the Navy and see the world".  He truly did that.   Connecticut, Virginia, New York, California, China, Japan, Hawaii, The Philipines, Hawaii.

In July 1941, he married Pearl O'Connolly in Texarkana.  She was a nurse in New York City and was from Pennsylvania.  They had a home in Mt. Carmel, PA.

On 7 December 1941, he was aboard the U.S.S. HELENA (CL 50).

On 25 May 1949, he had just retired from the Navy and with his wife, was waiting for a flight out of San Diego, CA.  In their hotel room he lay down for a nap and never woke up.

He NEVER resided in Little Rock.
