Edward Lee Morris was born in a farm house about 8 miles from Cottondale, FL near the village of Kynesville. After graduating from Cottondale High School in 1946, he joined the Navy where he served honorably as a Yeoman. After leaving the Navy, he went to work in the oil fields with some of his brothers and others, in Colorado, Nebraska and Utah. He married Lillian Henderson, also from the Cottondale area, in Utah in 1949. They returned to Florida, and built a home, since renovated several times on th very spot he was born. He died after a lengthy illness in that home. He retired at the age of 58 as the President and Principle owner of a construction company in Marianna, FL. He started at that same company as a carpenter and worked his way up. He served as a Deacon of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, in Kynesville, FL and is interred there.
