The estate inventory of James Lowndes, taken 6 Apr 1839, lists the names of enslaved ancestors at Lowndes' plantation on the Combahee River in Colleton, SC.

Enslaved Ancestors Apportioned to Edward R. Lowndes

The following enslaved ancestors were apportioned to Edward R. Rutledge in addition to those he received during his father's lifetime:

"We the undersigned apportion to Edward Rutledge Lowndes the following Negroes viz Minus, Hagar, Sibby, Binah, Affy and Rhina to make up the number received by the said Edward R. Lowndes from his father during his lifetime equal to the Lots now divided by us he paying to the above lots No 1, 2 & 3 seven hundred and twenty five dollars each to equalize the amounts received by them."
