Anybody remember the times we spent at Altamont which the YW owned but it now a private estate - the last I knew owned by Bruce Kovner. Back in the 60s Y-Teens had work camps at Altamont. We would work in the Main House and stay in the Guest House - Polish Silver - Oil the Panelling - Dust - Wash Floors- in good weather we would camp in the Old Stone Horse Stable. It was a gorgeous place. The Main House had a beautiful terrace where we would hold end of day closing ceremonies as we watched the sun set. Day is Done Gone the Sun From the Lakes, From the Hills, From the Skies All is Well, Safely Rest, God is Nigh. These were the days that formed character.

Today 56 Cannon Street is a Parking Lot and there is no YWCA in Poughkeepsie - Not on Cannon Street & Not on Bancroft Road - A great community resource gone.
