Virginia Oakley Shutt became my pen pal later in life. She was a cousin of my grandmothers that I discovered while doing genealogy. She was an excellent seamstress, and made formal dresses and mens suits. She also made gifts for people using various needlework and crafts. Her husband Fred created a nice garden for her that was well maintained for years. She loved her azaleas and hydrangeas that bloomed for several decades. She bought a house with Fred as a newleywed and lived in the same house over 60 years. She had a son named Pete. Virginia was the oldest child of Artie Oakley and Martha Dortch. She enjoyed card games. I enjoyed being her pen pal for several years.
