| Lakehurst, New Jersey

Following a historic Atlantic crossing, on May 6, 1937, the German zeppelin Hindenburg exploded while landing in New Jersey.  Many theories were presented as to the real cause of the explosion, such as sabotage and spark ignition.  The event was well publicized and recorded, and regarded as one of the most disastrous accidents of all time.
