Carlis C. White

My farther was injured in the Pacific when a motor round landed next to him. It Blew off the top of his head and riddeld his back with shrapnel.  They took him back to the med station close to the battle line and tended to him but did not think he would survie. 1 week later he was still hanging on then they sent him furhter back to the medical hospital where they treated him and shiped him on back to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC. Their he was one of the first to recieve a metal cap and a cadavers scalp. They couldnt remove all the shrapnal so he had alot of pain in his back the rest of his life. He spent a year in recovery at Walter Reed and was a successful recovery patient.

He made SSG twice and was busted down to PVT Twice. He was demoted for striking an officer in the face and laying him out. I never was told why he striked the officer in the face, being a daughter he didnt go into details.

He was a PVT when he was wounded and was a PVT when he was discharged.
