In one of the most famous addresses given during the Cold War period, on Apr. 7, 1954President Eisenhower proclaimed his Domino Theory during a news conference. The theory, primarily addressing the spread of communism in Southeast Asia, asserted the threat of Vietnam falling, with others following suit closely after. This issue would foreshadow U.S. involvment in Vietnam for decades to follow.
