Service WWII to Mid 1980's

I am writing about my father based on conversations with him. My father was studying to be a priest in the Passiionist Order (St. Paul of the Cross). He took the oath of poverty and obedience but was drafted before the final oath of chastity to become a Roman Catholic priest. My father was sent to Fort Dix, New Jersey for basic training. He was told the war was going to end and the army would need medics and military police, so my dad chose to be a medic as he could not stand being a cop because he was too soft hearted based on his religious training. My dad was sent to Fort McClellan, Alabama for advanced training. During this time WWII ended but he was sent to Munich Germany to srve in the 98th General Hospital as a laboratory tech. In the Army of Occupation he rose to Tech Sgt. When dad returned from Germany he obtained a degree from DuQuesne University. The Korean War started and he had a college degree so he was made an officer. My father served in the US Army Reserves' 99th ARCOM unitl he formally retired in the 1980's as a full colonel. I attended his retiremet ceremony at the Presidio of San Francisco
