Freeman Victor Horner

Freeman Victor Horner from Shamokin, Pennsylvania enlisted in the U.S. Army on 4 January 1941 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

On 16 November 1944, Staff Sergeant Horner was assigned to Company K, 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division.

On that day, in Würselen, Germany, he single-handedly attacked three German machine gun positions and killed or captured the soldiers manning them.

For these actions, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on 30 October 1945.
