25 March 1975 | Republic of Korea
To: Specialist Six John A. CHRISTEL
For: Outstanding meritorious service in Korea, 2 April 1974 - 29 March 1975.
Citation:
"Specialist Six John A. CHRISTEL distinguished himself by outstanding meritorious service as Special Agent, Camp Red Cloud Branch Office, Korea Field Office, United States Army Criminal Investigation Command. Specialist CHRISTEL used all investigative principles effectively and continuously worked to improve the abilities of junior agents. His outstandimg leadership and comprehensive knowledge of the techniques of criminal investigation earned him the respect of supervisors and colleagues. As the only Special Agent in charge of supply diversion offenses, he single-handedly recovered in excess of $30,000 of diverted United States Government property and apprehended the offenders. Specialist CHRISTEL's ability to work closely with supply and legal supervisory personnel resulted in the identification and correction of 'loopholes' in the supply system, which had allowed the theft of large quantities of equipment and supplies. His daily performance of duty was far above that which would be normally expected of an Agent of his grade and experience. By his untiring initiative, devotion to duty, and integrity, he greatly improved the training, discipline, criminal investigation, crime prevention, and administration of his unit. Specialist CHRISTEL's duty performance marks him as a Special Agent of the highest caliber and reflects great credit upon himself, the Military Police Corps, and the United States Army."
