OBITUARY

A Mass for William J. Tamarato Sr., 84, of West Orange will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, West Orange, following the funeral from The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main St., West Orange. Mr. Tamarato died Wednesday in the Kessler Nursing Home. He was a masonary water proofer for United Construction Co. in New York for 10 years before retiring. Previously, he worked for the Rockwell Newman Co., Orange, for 35 years. An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Tamarato served as a squad leader in the 102nd Ozark infantry division. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, the European Theater Medal, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Unit Award, the American Theater Ribbon, the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon, the Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 326, West Orange, and Local 66 Pointers, Cleaners, Caulkers Union of New York. Born in Cambridge Springs, Pa., Mr. Tamarato lived in Orange before moving to West Orange 53 years ago. Surviving are his wife, May; three daughters, Mrs. Marsha Malone, Mrs. Barbara Larson and Mrs. Nancy Mason; a son, William J. Jr.; three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Horvath, Mrs. Irene Kaufhold and Mrs. Margaret Longo, and 10 grandchildren.
