Obituary: Jack Malter Born circa 1910 Died February 15, 1996 Jack Malter, 85, of 11123 Chapel St., Perkinsville, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 1996 after a short illness in Conesus Lake Nursing Home. Jack was a native and lifelong resident of Perkinsville. He was married Nov. 25, 1935, in St. Joseph's Church in Wayland to the former Lilliam Kramer, who survives. Last year, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Prior to retiring in 1981, he owned and operated his own bus transportation business and was a school bus contractor for Wayland Central School from 1931 to 1981. During World War II gas rationing years, he transported workers to the Gunlocke Chair Co. in Wayland and Foster Wheeler in Dansville in his school bus, nicknamed 'Miss Perk.' Mr. Malter was instrumental in building the Wayland Girl Scout House. He was an avid golfer and a daily attendant of the 10 a.m. coffee hour at Jim's Diner with his buddies. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Perkinsville. He was predeceased by a son, William Malter, in 1958. Besides his wife Lillian, he is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Thomas Canning of Manlius, Linda Alexander, Joni and Gregg Collins, all of New Orleans, La., and Kathy Malter Wager of Fort Collins, Colo.; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Tina Koehler Malter of Ontario; eight grand-children; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends called from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 17-18, at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland, where a Rosary was recited at 8:45 p.m. Sunday. Friends of Jack Malter were invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19, in Sacred Heart Church in Perkinsville with the Rev. Charles Manning as celebrant. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Perkinsville. Those wishing may make contributions in his name to Sacred Heart Church, Perkinsville, NY, 14529; or Gunlocke Library, Wayland, NY, 14572.
