Lieutenant George Laughton, M.C. in the Great War of 1914-1919. Enlisted with the 142nd Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force (Canada), later the 33rd Canadian Infantry Battalion (England), prior to Officer's Training at Oxford. Upon graduation joined the 26th Northumberland Fusiliers (34th Division, British 3rd Army). Awarded Military Cross for action at Arras (Vimy) in 1917 and subsequent action and wounding at Passchendaele.
