Dorcas Tabitha (Swiger) was born on Katys Lick Creek, Sardis, Harrison Co., (W.) Va., c. July 28, 1800, the daughter of Christopher Columbus Swiger and Ellenor (Backus).

At the age of 17, Dorcus Tabitha (Swiger) was a partner with a Mr. Daniel _ in Harrison Co., (W) VA., and they had a son, Daniel Swiger, born in 1818.

At the age of 23, Dorcas married William Gain in Harrison Co., (W) VA, on June 24, 1824. William was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1802, and likely died before 1831.

At the age of 31, Dorcas Tabitha married John J. Prunty in Harrison Co., (W) VA, on July 22, 1831.

Dorcus Prunty (age 58, B- Va., Farmer) is listed as head of her household on the 1860 Doddridge County, (W.) Va., census with kids: N. (male, age 17), George (male, age 15), & Z. F. (male, age 14) (all kids B-Va.)

Dorcas Tabitha (Swiger) Prunty is buried in the Center Point Christian Church Cemetery, Center Point, Doddridge Co., W. Va., near her 2nd husband, John J. Prunty.
